Youth & Young Adults

Step Up Church | Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Hayley Mae Salingua is a Founding Member, Elder-Prayer Intercessory/Online Life Group, & Worship musician of Step Up Church and serves as a Youth & Young Adults Lead where she has a passion for reaching, discipling, encouraging, and empowering the next generation to know and follow Jesus Christ.

As the wife of Pastor Walter Salingua, Founder and Pastor of Step Up Church, Hayley has faithfully served alongside him since the church began in 2019. From the early days of the church’s humble beginnings, she has been an important part of the ministry journey and has helped nurture a church culture where children, youth, and families are valued and welcomed.

A Heart for the Next Generation

Hayley’s ministry is driven by a deep desire to see young people develop a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ and understand that they have a significant place in God’s Kingdom.

She believes that youth are not simply the future of the Church—they are an important part of the Church today.

Her desire is to create an environment where young people can come as they are, encounter God’s presence, ask honest questions, build meaningful friendships, grow in God’s Word, and discover their identity and purpose in Christ.

Through her leadership, the Step Up Youth & Young Adults ministry seeks to help young people take meaningful steps in their faith and develop a strong foundation that will guide them throughout their lives.

Leading Step Up Youth & Young Adults

As Step Up Youth & Young Adults Leader, Hayley is passionate about creating opportunities for young people to:

  • Know Jesus Christ personally and develop a genuine relationship with Him.
  • Grow in God’s Word and learn how to apply biblical truth to everyday life.
  • Develop a life of prayer and worship and learn to seek God in every season.
  • Build healthy Christian friendships and community.
  • Discover their God-given identity, gifts, and purpose.
  • Develop confidence in their faith and learn to stand for Christ.
  • Serve others and participate actively in the life of the church.
  • Share the Gospel and become witnesses for Jesus among their friends, schools, families, and communities.
  • Become disciples who make disciples, continuing the biblical pattern of multiplication.

Her goal is not simply to organize youth activities, but to build disciples.

Creating a Place to Belong

Hayley recognizes that adolescence is a significant season of life. Young people are developing their identity, making important decisions, forming relationships, and asking questions about their future.

Step Up Youth seeks to be a place where young people know that they are seen, valued, loved, and welcomed.

Hayley desires to cultivate an atmosphere where youth can experience genuine Christian community while being encouraged to grow spiritually.

She believes that when young people encounter Jesus and are surrounded by a healthy community of believers, they can develop the confidence and foundation needed to live faithfully for Christ.

Discipleship and Spiritual Growth

At the center of Hayley’s leadership is discipleship.

She desires to see young people move beyond simply attending church and develop a faith that becomes personal, active, and lasting.

Through biblical teaching, prayer, worship, fellowship, mentoring, and service, she encourages youth to take intentional steps in their relationship with God.

Her vision is to see young people become increasingly confident in who they are in Christ and equipped to influence their generation for Jesus.

She believes that a young person who learns to follow Jesus today can become a disciple-maker, leader, missionary, pastor, parent, and Kingdom influence tomorrow.

Building the Next Generation of Leaders

Hayley is passionate about developing young people who recognize that God can use their lives right now.

Rather than waiting until they are older to serve God, she encourages youth to discover ways to serve, lead, encourage, pray, evangelize, and make a difference in their communities.

Her hope is to see the Step Up Youth ministry become a place where young leaders are identified, encouraged, trained, and released into their God-given potential.

She believes that leadership begins with character, humility, faithfulness, and a willingness to serve.

Serving Alongside Pastor Walter

Hayley’s ministry has developed alongside the journey of Step Up Church and Pastor Walter’s calling as Founder and Pastor.

From the church’s beginnings as a fellowship of seven people gathering in their residence basement in 2019, she has witnessed and participated in the many seasons of growth and transition that have shaped the church.

As Step Up Church moved from the basement into a rental clubhouse, then into a leased warehouse converted into a place of worship, and eventually into a larger leased commercial space zoned for church use, Hayley continued to serve faithfully as part of the ministry.

Her involvement in the lives of children and youth has been an important expression of the church’s broader mission to reach people of every generation with the Gospel.

A Vision for Young People

Hayley’s vision for Step Up Youth & Young Adults is simple but significant:

To see young people know Jesus, love His Word, discover their identity in Him, live with purpose, and become courageous followers of Christ who influence their generation.

She believes that the Church has a responsibility to invest intentionally in the next generation—not merely by providing programs, but by building relationships, teaching truth, modeling faith, and creating opportunities for young people to encounter God.

Her prayer is that every young person connected to Step Up Youth would be able to say:

“I know Jesus.
I know who I am in Him.
 I know my purpose.
And I am ready to step up.”

The Step Up Call

The heart of Step Up Youth reflects the larger calling of Step Up Church.

Young people are encouraged to:

Step up in faith.
Step up in prayer.
Step up in God’s Word.
Step up in worship.
Step up in character.
Step up in service.
Step up in leadership.
Step up in sharing the Gospel.
Step up and follow Jesus.

Hayley desires to see a generation that refuses to allow age, fear, insecurity, or circumstances to keep them from responding to God’s call.

Her Heart for the Future

Hayley believes that investing in young people is investing in the future of families, churches, communities, and the Kingdom of God.

Her prayer is that the young people of Step Up Church will grow into men and women who passionately love Jesus, faithfully live according to His Word, courageously share the Gospel, and use their God-given gifts to serve others.

She envisions a generation of young people who will not simply inherit the faith of those before them, but will personally encounter Christ, embrace their faith, and carry the Gospel forward.

As Step Up Church continues to grow and multiply, Hayley remains committed to serving the next generation with love, faith, patience, and purpose.

Her passion is simple:

To reach the youth.
 To disciple the youth.
 To encourage the youth.
 To empower the youth.
 To raise leaders.
And to point every young person to Jesus Christ.

Step Up Youth

Know Jesus.
 Grow in Faith.
 Discover Your Purpose.
 Live for Christ.
 Lead Your Generation.

Every step. Every young life. Every future.

All for the glory of Jesus Christ.
